Conference lets you join three or more people into a single multi-party audio call. While you are in a Conference, you can use any of the features that would normally be available during a two-party call.
Up to eight people are allowed in a single conference call.
The System Options form controls the Maximum Parties in a Conference, Maximum CO Trunks in a Conference, and Maximum Trunks (of any Type) in a Conference. A party who tries to join a conference that has reached the maximum number or parties in a conference receives a busy tone.
The maximum number of conferences that a system can accommodate depends upon the number of people in each conference and the platform type as follows:
Platform Type |
Maximum Number of Conference Parties |
CX II or CXi II |
30 |
MiVoice Business for Industry Standard Server, or MiVoice Business Virtual |
600 |
All other types |
64 |
When the maximum is 64 people, you can have 8 conferences of 8 parties, 21 conferences of 3 parties, or a combination between. When the maximum is 9 people, you can have 3 conferences of 3 parties, 2 conferences of 4 parties, or 1 conference of 8 parties. With 30 maximum participants, you can have 10 conferences of 3 parties, 5 conferences of 6 parties, or any combination in between.
All trunks with the Public Trunk COS option set to "Yes" are recognized as CO trunks and thus subject to the System Options value for Maximum CO Trunks in a Conference.
Any member of a Conference can add another party to the Conference; however, only one party can be added to the Conference at a time.
An ACD Agent who is being Silent Monitored cannot be added to a conference.
NOTE: Each time Record-A-Call is invoked, one three-party conference is consumed.
